The 2020 Maui Invitational is moving from the beach to the mountains.
Organizers announced Friday that Asheville, N.C., will host the tournament this fall. All games will be played at Harrah's Cherokee Center in a bubble-type environment to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
While an official date was not given, The Charlotte Observer reported the tournament will be played Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
"We look forward to bringing the Spirit of Aloha to the mainland," organizers said in a statement.
Teams scheduled to take part are North Carolina, Alabama, Davidson, Indiana, Providence, Stanford, Texas and UNLV.
The tournament was to be played Nov. 23-25 in Maui but will held at the ExploreAsheville.com Arena at the center, which previously hosted Southern Conference postseason tournaments.
