Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is a game-time decision for Sunday's contest against the Houston Texans after sustaining a calf strain in Thursday's practice.

Jones said he is aiming to play in Houston and coach Matt LaFleur indicated a willingness to wait as long as possible to make a decision.

"We'll give him up to game time to see if he can do it or not," LaFleur said after Friday's practice.

Jones said he felt issues with the calf during Thursday's practice but it wasn't until Friday morning that he grew concerned.

"I felt my calf get tight during practice and I didn't really pay it much attention," Jones said on a post-practice video call. "... I came in this morning and we took a lot at it. I'm confident I can play but our trainers and doctors have the player's best interests in mind and I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure I can get out on the field but it is up to the team doctors."

Jones said he wasn't having issues with the calf prior to Thursday's practice.

Jones ranks 10th in the NFL with 389 rushing yards. He is averaging 5.2 yards per carry and has seven total touchdowns (five rushing, two receiving).

Meanwhile, LaFleur said Jones will be observed closely during pregame warmups on Sunday.

"I think they have to prove it in pregame and go out there and really go for it," LaFleur said. "Every situation is a little bit different. ... You made a decision in the best interests of the team and the player."
