CUPERTINO, California: Apple is hoping to begin selling its electric car in 2025, which will be a fully self-driving vehicle, according to Bloomberg News.
Apple shares rose nearly 3 percent following release of the news.
In the past, Apple has suggested it might design an automobile with no steering wheel or pedals.
"It's a matter of when, not if," Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said, adding that the chances of Apple unveiling its own stand-alone car by 2025 are 60 percent to 65 percent, as reported by Bloomberg.
Earlier, Reuters had reported that Apple's proposed passenger vehicle could include its own breakthrough battery technology.
