131 people killed in floods in the U.S. state of Texas

Washington, SANA-U.S. authorities announced Tuesday that 131 people have died due to floods and storms that struck the state of Texas earlier this month.

Reuters quoted Texas Governor Greg Abbott as saying that the storms and resulting floods have claimed the lives of 131 people since July 4, noting that most of the fatalities occurred in county of Kerrville and its surroundings, and that 97 individuals remain missing.

The National Weather Service issued a warning about renewed flooding, with forecasts of heavy rainfall across a wide area of central Texas, extending from the Rio Grande eastward to San Antonio and Austin.
